Have these guys ever played cards for money?
The sides of some of London’s red buses will soon carry ads asserting there is “probably no God”… [emphasis added]
Let’s say that “probably” means there’s a 99% chance there is no God and so I do as I please and ignore absolutely everything He’s ever said, perhaps with a major chip on my shoulder and a lot to prove, leading others away with me also also (a la Dawkins, Hitchens, et al).
If I’m right, when I die, it all fades to black and who cares? (Same for the proved-wrong believers).
If on the other hand, the 1% proves true and I’m wrong, I endure my worst-ever nightmares up-close and personal for all eternity not because God rejected me but because I resolutely rejected Him (free will is a b*tch). Endless. Nightmares. In 3D and stereo. No suicide allowed.
Hmm… Would it still be a good bet at 99.9% chance? At 99.999%? At 99.9999999999%?
Hello!! Who ever said these crusaders were rational?
Occam’s Razor is quite sharp is it not.

And yet rationality is exactly the characteristic many atheists would pride themselves on. “Logic” is a common cry, though rarely followed through upon. Nice point.
Blessings.
