Tough to tell which side the artist is on. Regardless, it speaks to the zeitgeist. Astounding…
“Progressing slowly down Locust and holding up traffic was a rubbery Barack Obama sculpture saddled on the back of a donkey… A pair of black SUVs led the procession and two more trailed behind, Secret Service-style. A couple of the SUVs were decked out with tiny American flags. A few men led the Donkey down the street and a woman made her way along the sidewalk, keeping up with the procession and handing out palm branches…“
Further on the same story: [The artist] called the marching artwork “A Simulacrum of Hope: Simulation of the Triumphal Entry of the Christ.”
I’m going with pale horse.

H/T: The Merry Widow, who has a very cool audio app on her site. Apparently, the apocalypse will be accompanied by music. (Relax. It’s scriptural.)
[...] Hello. Not to be confused with the white horse in Revelation 19:11 who is Christ himself or the pale horse of Revelation 6:8, “whose name is death” (hmm… the geriatric [...]

Personally, given the definition of “simulacrum” and the artists specific use of the term… I think the artist was being sarcastic about the “worship” of BO. JMO.
[I would tend to agree. Good art makes you think about it, though. -ed.]

Hey, ultraguy! Some of the music I chose just fits the times, “Bad Moon Rising” is terribly appropriate…lol!
AOW has a post about a “Little Blue Book” (comes in red too) from Amazon, with all sorts of obama quotes…small enough to keep in your breast pocket, “…near your heart…”, how maoish!
I think I might lose me meals for the past week!

An aside…
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090126/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_iran_4
The “messiah” wannabe is about to pay homage to “mecca”. As a historical footnote… JFK’s first meeting with Kruschev was so disastrous that it led directly to the Cuban Missile Crisis. LBJ even admitted as much when he once commented on how badly the first meeting went. Remember that BO as a self-professed Christian (of whatever stripe) is considered the worst of apostates given his father IS MUSLIM. They don’t accept too many conversion stories lightly.
How’s that feeling going now? This guy is doing nothing to alleviate my own personal spidey-sense from tingling… that’s for sure.
[Yes and... if B.O. is, on the surface the worst kind of ex-muslim apostate and yet they still welcome him with open arms, what does that tell you about, a) his actual faith and/or, b) where the muslims think his faith lies and/or c) how much they think they can use him to their purposes. Just askin'... -ed.]

Looking up the definition for “Simulacrum” was instructive regarding the artists’ potential position since he’s the one who gave the title a specific feel with the word.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulacrum
The first part of the definition caught my eye…
“Simulacrum (plural: -cra, also -crums[dubious – discuss]), from the Latin simulacrum which means “likeness, similarity”, is first recorded in the English language in the late 16th century, used to describe a representation of another thing, such as a statue or a painting, especially of a god; by the late 19th century, it had gathered a secondary association of inferiority: an image without the substance or qualities of the original.
[especially of a god... interesting... -ed.]
