There is no doubt that PBXVI took the opportunity to shepherd a wayward sheep who pretty much embarrassed herself publicly during the election cycle. Anyone who knows PBXVI intellect and knowledge has to realize that this meeting was not so much a meeting of a “head of state” and a “dignitary”. This was a meeting of a high profile American catholic and the leader of her church. She may have wanted to talk about schnitzel and get a photo op… what she got was the shepherd staff around her neck in an attempt to get her back in line, like the patient shepherd he is.
Personally I think she was more shell shocked and at a loss for words publicly.
