The Sound of Man’s Plans Crashing to Earth — UPDATED

As we approach the 40th anniversary of man’s most ambitious-ever projection of himself beyond his physical domain (Apollo 11 ‘moonwalk’ mission launch, this Thursday) and as I continue to ponder events both large and small in the context of what I now accept to be BHO’s ultimate, if still publicly latent, identity, it’s hard not to see something like this as one way for God to say, with subtle but definitive authority to those even bothering to pay attention: I’m watching. Stop boasting. I’m coming. Don’t dare forget Me. Turn back NOW.

BHO: “…pull our economy…”

[sound of glass teleprompter crashing to the ground and shattering; shards of glass remained near the president’s feet for the duration of his speech.]

BHO: “…oh my goodness… sorry ’bout that, guys”

[I almost never listen to him; his style is strangely disarming.]

BHO: “… umm… to pull our economy back from the brink, including the largest and most sweeping economic recovery plan in our nation’s history. If we had not taken that step, our cities would be in a [sic] even deeper hole.”

That whole scene transpired in just 19 seconds; it’s absolutely soaked in symbolism. A few passages seem relevant here. Not definitive. Just interesting.

Psalm 110:5b-6: [The Lord] will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth.”

(Interestingly,  Psalm 110:1-2 is an absolute classic in support of the Millennial Kingdom as well as a nice apologetic foil against anti-Trinitarian doctrine: “The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool. The Lord sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies!”)

Jeremiah 4:18-22: Your ways and your deeds have brought this upon you. This is your doom, and it is bitter; it has reached your very heart. My anguish, my anguish! I writhe in pain! Oh the walls of my heart! My heart is beating wildly; I cannot keep silent, for I hear the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. Crash follows hard on crash; the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are laid waste, my curtains in a moment. How long must I see the standard and hear the sound of the trumpet? For my people are foolish; they know me not; they are stupid children; they have no understanding. They are ‘wise’–in doing evil! But how to do good they know not.”

Isaiah 10:12-14 (a passage I treated more fully here, in the context of OBH as the Assyrian): When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes. For he says: “By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding; I remove the boundaries of peoples, and plunder their treasures; like a bull I bring down those who sit on thrones. My hand has found like a nest the wealth of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved a wing or opened the mouth or chirped.”

UPDATE: Speaking of falling and shattering, this is interesting (H/T: RB):

On July 20, 1969, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin overshot their planned landing point and nearly ran out of fuel as they dodged boulders and false alarms from their computerized dashboard, looking for a place to come down. They made it with 17 seconds to spare. That night the Soviets’ unmanned Luna 15 spacecraft, which they hoped would scoop up rock samples and beat Apollo 11 home, crash-landed into another part of the moon, while the two Americans, having completed their walk around Tranquility Base, slept in the lunar module.

No relation between this and scripture? ‘Tranquility Base’ = ‘Blares Antiquity‘   :)

  3. jsyk, last night I dreamed that the ac wasn’t Obama after all — he was just setting the stage for…Al Gore!
I was even reasoning out in my dream how he is kind of a ‘leader’ to the Euro elites. And the significance of his last name in regards to all the blood and destruction prophesied for the end. :) I think that means I should spend a little more time outside today, instead of scrolling through your blogroll.

[Sorry to have given you this disease, erica! ;-) 'Gore'/gore... interesting. I could see it. The irony with global warming/burning is tremendous. -ed.]
