If you’re inclined to the view that all human behavior can be explained in purely rational, organic, psychological terms… If you don’t believe in satan and demons and spiritual powers of darkness and our need for a savior… If you think that most people are mostly good most of the time and that total depravity and utter evil are things off at the fringes and that they’re not on the march with impunity in the world today… and/or if you imagine that infanticide and abortion are entirely separate phenomena and that the moral revulsion everyone feels at the former is not part and parcel of the latter, then read this and be prepared to re-consider your assumptions… unless you’ve eaten in the last several hours, in which case you should either get a bucket… or wait and read it anyway. Here’s the very tamest part:
Police say the 33-year-old Sanchez told officers who were called to her house early Sunday that she killed her son at the Devil’s request.
(Interesting how the secular media capitalizes devil, no?)
For the rest of us, it’s worth recalling that, 1) one of the thieves crucified next to Jesus (the one who acknowledged him for who he was) was assured by Jesus that he’d be in paradise with him that day and, 2) after realizing that Christ was who he’d claimed to be and had already forgiven him, the Centurion responsible for carrying out the gruesome details of his crucifixion (as well as those with him) were, “filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!” When you’d think they’d have been in utter anguish at having made perhaps the biggest mistake in the history of the universe.
Which is all to say, it’s not too late for the poor possessed woman in the horrific story linked above. Pray for Otty Sanchez and her late son, Scott Wesley Buchholtz-Sanchez.
If you want some tamer fare, try this, on the arrest of 44 in New Jersey over the weekend (there’s that number again…)
“They existed in an ethics-free zone.” [said Ralph Marra Jr., acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey] The probe includes a bizarre sideshow: the alleged trafficking of human kidneys, a lucrative, illegal industry and not one that’s typically showcased alongside political shenanigans.
There is another ethics-free zone that’s a natural extension of the temporal one. It’s called hell.
UPDATE I: The Sanchez murder story has gone big now. Not to distract from the sheer tragedy of the situation and need for prayer, but here’s something I hadn’t noticed before — ironic in light of my Sunday post about OBH’s likely mental illness (malignant narcissistic personality disorder) and his potential reaction to increasingly credible demands for his long-form (i.e., real) birth certificate:
…on Saturday, [Otty] Sanchez brought “Baby Scotty” for a visit [with the baby's father, Scott Buchholz] but stormed out after he asked for a copy of the birth certificate and other documents, Buchholz said. Buchholz called 911 to report that Sanchez stormed out and drove away with the infant without properly restraining him in the car, and deputies investigated it as a disturbance.
The deputy took a report but could do little else, said Bexar County Sheriff Chief Deputy Dale Bennett. “If this guy had given us an indication that she had postpartum depression, or mental defects she was suffering from, we may have addressed it differently,” he said.
If a mother is diagnosed with psychosis, she should immediately be hospitalized and separated from the child, Puryear said.
If we’d known, many might have voted differently and the mother president separated from the child country he’s killing and dismembering.
Sorry. Sometimes the symbolism is just sitting there in plain sight.
UPDATE II: In the original vein of this post, in the same AP report, this:
Postpartum psychosis is far rarer, affecting only about one woman in 1,000. Women with postpartum psychosis have delusions, frequently involving religious symbols and a desire to harm their newborn, said Richard Pesikoff, a psychiatry professor at the Baylor College of Medicine.
He testified in the second trial of Andrea Yates, the high-profile case of a Houston-area mother found not guilty by reason of insanity after drowning her five children. Similar to Sanchez’s claim that the devil told her to kill her son, Yates told authorities Satan was inside of her and she was trying to save her children.
“The most common part of postpartum psychosis is the delusional thinking,” said Pesikoff. “Often but not always, it encompasses some type of religious thought. God is telling you to do something. The devil is telling you to do something.”
I’ll go with option ‘B’ — the devil. God doesn’t demand infant sacrifice. That’s a human invention (now a protected ‘right’ and a taxpayer-funded, aggressively exported industry — the subject of an upcoming post I’m researching). Abraham was a very special case, frequently twisted out of context.
Once again and quite disappointingly, the MSM lumps all “religious thought” under the same umbrella of “delusion”. Yet we’re told that not all delusions are the same and not all supernatural voices are the same:
The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2nd Thessalonians 2:9-12)
“…sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.” (Genesis 4:7)
“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31-32)
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. (1st Peter 5:8-9)
[...] I can’t help reflecting further on the gruesome murder of Scotty Buchholz-Sanchez which I wrote about the other day. Someone once said that (in addition to scripture) God writes history with men’s lives… [...]

It’s sad to say, but romance, including movies and television, is about grand heroes. Life, however, is about real people. Most of us are not (spit) “community organizers.” We are community members. We are not sociology professors, or whatever that wretched guy in Cambridge is. We are the people who do the actual work of feeding, nurturing, cleaning, building, and protecting those of our “betters” who only write about our activities. Notice how Gates did not know that the police officers who asked him to step out onto the porch and went from zero to shriek in one second. Most of know that the cops want you out of the house, in case some unseen thug is pointing a gun at you. It takes a second, but Gates used that second to rev up his indignation. Notice how Soetero does not even know that tonsillectomies today are a tiny fraction of the number performed in the fifties?
Our dramatic movies and television deal with a romantic vision of the world. In contrast, comedy often shows life as we see it. Consider Thurston Howell III, defeated for the Presidency in 2004. Consider WC Fields, with his “a mere peccadillo” regarding any objections to his health care obamination.
When I do meet the Lord face to face, He is not going to pin any medals on me. However, I long to hear him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

In my years of psychiatric nursing, I observed that grandiose people adopted grand symbolism. They were always the Blessed Lady, and never St Martha, whose passion was cooking and doing the dishes afterward, and who got a little peeved when others did not want to join in. (I’ve never been there, of course. And I am sure that y’all haven’t either, right?) People who think that they remember past lives usually remember being, for example, Cleopatra, never her third assistant under slave.
It was popular in the ’70’s, especially among Lefties, to claim that people who were hallucinating just had a “different approach to reality.” Who could say which was the right one? Since I actually took care of these people, and listened to them, I knew that their hallucinations were not just happy alternative views, but scary waking nightmares. They don’t always hear God or the devil. Sometimes, indeed, often, it’s their mothers, and, if they were remembering her aright, it was no wonder they were crazy. I would be, too.
Those of us blessed, most of the time, with sanity, nevertheless know that the devil himself takes advantage of our fears and weaknesses, in less dramatic ways, perhaps, but it’s right there. How many young women go in for abortion, for example, thinking that they are casually getting rid of an obstacle to their bright future? How many flee to the abortionist, for fear of their mother, father, loss of a job, shame, loss of a boyfriend, their inadequacies that disqualify them from parenthood? This is a really good example, although it is painful for some of us, including me, because it allows us to see that the way of peace is humble and lowly, like the Catholic parishes with their big signs out front, “Pregnant? Need help?” I can tell you that, having spent years in a Protestant version of this ministry, it is a long, hard slog. The help does not end with the birth, but with a mother and child who are self sustaining, with still a little help now and then.

I don’t think republicans are any more christian than democrats necessarily. Just because one says he is a christian doesn’t make him christian. I think you can find information in all kinds of places and it’s better to be aware than not aware of private armies.
I imagine the AC will say he is Christian too.

Psychologists and the media typically attribute the auditory “delusions” of baby-killer & cannibalist Otty Sanchez to psychotic schizophrenia. What they don’t explain is why the delusions of schizophrenics are always about “God” or Satan commanding them to do evil — to harm or kill another. How come schizophrenics are never told to do good?
Delusion is delusion. One would think that just as there’s a 50-50 chance when I toss a coin for “head” vs. “tail,” so too in the case of psychotic delusions.
[Yes. The reconciliation of scientific truth with Biblical truth is always "both/and" not "either/or" as so many would have it. -ed.]

Erica-Thank you for your heartfelt witness.
I’m sure your baby still loves you and looks forward to being reunited with you again some day – thanks be to Jesus Christ.
You’re a very courageous woman.
I’m sure the Lord is very proud of you.

First of all, Blackwater provides security services on contracts all over the world, and formerly provided body guard services for several Iraqi politicians. However, their presence in Iraq is much diminished, for at least the past two years or more, since they were accused of over reacting to a situation there.
Secondly, The Nation is a far Left magazine, with a seriously, radically antichristian bias. Notice how the reader describes Blackwater as a Right Wing CHRISTIAN company? To them, that Blackwater’s executives are CHRISTIAN is enough evidence that they are evil personified.
When the Blackwater men were captured, mutilated and their bodies hung from the bridge suppports, al Qaeda in Iraq was already in the process of taking over Fallujah. US troops routed them, but did not stay and hold the city. Al Quaeda held Fallujah for several months afterward, killing thousands of people, women whose heads were not properly covered, for example, until immediately after the election, in 2004, the Marines retook the city. They uncovered torture rooms that would have turned Saddam green with envy, and freed many captives who were awaiting execution or some painful intermediate step.

Naturally, we are horrified by this story. All I could think of was that nearly thirty years ago, I paid a doctor to do the same thing to my own baby, and without the excuse of mental illness. Today, thousands of women did the same thing. Yet only one made the news — why? I can never again look at another’s sin without knowing that I killed my own child. You have to go pretty low on the food chain to find mothers that kill their own. It’s happening all around us, all the time, and its no less horrific because of the clinical setting, perhaps even more so. The miracle beyond description is that mercy is still being offered to us.

Wow. I don’t doubt at all that this woman heard from a spirit, perhaps not Satan himself, but one of his minions. Actually, I’ve noticed that many people in jail for murder and rape seem to have been influenced similarly. Often, they truly don’t seem to understand why they did what they did. I’m not suggesting we let them out, mind you. But, it’s curious….I know there are many prison ministries out there. I hope there are some performing deliverance and exorcism!

Oh, sorry, I see that you did find it. I have never heard this information disclosed anywhere in the past.

Otty Sanchez was a Jehovah’s Witness — as was her own mother. Why has the media deleted that fact from most reports?
Here is the first of 10 webpages devoted to murders and other crimes committed by JWs: jwdivorces.bravehost.com/familicide.html
[Umm... any other sources beyond this? And how come I'm getting the same exact word-for-word comment from multiple sources? Any independent evidence of this... from folks who don't sell anti-JW books for a living? -ed.]

Ultraguy,
In writing my blog post today, a weird you tube video came up with regard to Obama and finger healing. [Warning: pagan. -ed.]
I thought I would send this along to you and Jred since you are both better detectives than I am. Any thoughts on this?
Kim
[Ha! Yes! Thank you, Kim.
You may have just put into place a key piece that came up in my research back in February but which I hadn't known what to do with... until now. Here it is from Time Magazine, November 6, 2008:
"As a teenager, [BHO's White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel] severed his right middle finger slicing meat at Arby’s and went swimming in Lake Michigan before getting stitches. After the wound became severly [sic] infected, Emanuel had the top of his finger amputated and spent six weeks recovering.” -ed.]

“Which is all to say, it’s not too late for the poor possessed woman in the horrific story linked above. Pray for Otty Sanchez and her late son, Scott Wesley Buchholtz-Sanchez.”
AMEN! The horrible thing done by this woman is totally forgivable by God. He sent his own Son to be tortured and murdered by His own creation so that this woman (and all sinners) would not have to spend eternity separated from Him in the lake of fire. Please, everyone pray for this woman, her family and all involved, don’t let the enemy get this one!

I read that horrible story this morning, too; and I immediately thought that she most certainly was persuaded to do that by the “devil”. I cannot imagine that a person who was not possessed by the devil would do such a thing. I’m reading a lot of awful stuff like this that lays the perpetration of it at the feet of “The Deceiver”. I am praying constantly for God to protect my and my family’s minds.

The kidney scandal remingds me of the scene from Monty Python’s equal opportunity spoof… The Meaning of Life. There is a scene where a guy gets confronted by two thugish brutes (one being John Cleese) at his home asking if he had filled out his “liver donor” card. Saying that he did, they ask if they could have his liver to which the man replies in a great English accent, “But I’m using it!”
The two guys barged in and took it. Shockingly funny and grotesque at the same time. That spoof is dangerously close to becoming a reality.

This account is just horrendous and I’ve been thinking about it since yesterday. Anyone who can say that this type of behavior is just from a chemical imbalance is not being rational. The only explanation, as the woman herself said, is that the devil told her to do it.
I would not be surprised if there is some occult element to this story that has not yet come out.
Many women suffer from post-partum depression. I am convinced, however, that the devil uses that to attack women. When he’s successful, he has been able to destroy not only the child(ren’s) lives but the woman herself, the husband and other family members. Just how does one live with the knowledge of such an act?
Yes, prayers for all concerned.
