A Confluence of Serious Weirdness, Signifying…???

I would not have given the odd juxtaposition of headlines on Drudge this morning a second thought… (a bizarre and entirely un-funny publicity stunt with a cheesy UFO-shaped balloon in the high places of this country, linked to an absolutely horrific — though apparently popularshow about wife-swapping(!?!), involving one so-called psychic, a lot of nasty, epithet-filled yelling, and a woman who claims that all humans are descended from aliens (wrong but with a germ of Biblical truth to it))…

I would not have imagined it to be anything more than wacko-tabloid sensationalism (which it is), had I not watched the scripture-rich, two-hour ‘Area 6:2… sons of God’ teaching video on Profoundprophecy.com the other night. Check it out, be patient with the buffering, and draw your own conclusions.

Short take: don’t be misled by signs and wonders.

Warning: without an understanding of the scripture references in that video, the deep and at-times controversial background on marriage that Joseph Herrin has been writing about the last several weeks over at Parablesblog, and some understanding of the context of Baal-worship in the OT (e.g., here), this post will probably make very little sense. Handle with care.

  1. I personally have believe Joseph to be in a class by himself and have joined you DR in supporting him economically (and that’s not for any pat on the back….I just think he’s that devoted to God’s purposes). Also, I’ve asked him for advice many times, and his answers are never what you expect or want to hear. Then when ever I’ve taken it to the Word, it always seems to gel with what I read and hear.

Unfortunately, just as in the economic crises, many of God’s people are running around with smiles on their faces thinking that all is well in the world and don’t want to hear Joseph’s truth that all is not well. The multitude would look on him as some kind of …. for lack of a better phrase or insult, … a “Jesus Freak”. But his teachings are my “cup of tea”.

  2. I highly recommend reading JH’s Parables Blog. I also encourage economic support for this nomad of God.

His detailed analysis of scripture and its meaning is truly amazing. Graduate level discourse all the way.

Art, I very much appreciate you too! Best DR

[Thanks DR, but Joseph is in a class by himself -- really living it out, very deep into the word, and presenting it calmly and deliberately. -ed.]
