Synthetic Religion; Misplaced Faith

Increasingly, I’m looking at the political universe, and the ever-evolving power centers within it (e.g., ‘left’, ‘right’ and otherwise), for signs of a global, anti-Christian faith system taking hold. islam is an obvious choice, but lets set it aside for the moment.

To qualify in end-times prophetic terms, such a movement needs to be:

- Reasonably comprehensive. (I.e., addressing a wide range of questions across different domains of life — social, personal, economic, natural, historical — and in such a way as to be self-reinforcing to its adherents),

- Seemingly attractive. (I.e., sounds good on paper, in sound bites, or upon cursory inspection by those who don’t care to delve deeper into historical track records.)

- Widely shared. (Aside from Christianity itself — which is rooted in fundamental, universal truths observable throughout history and human nature — worldviews with just a handful of adherents are, by definition, not the basis for earthly power and thus don’t make good synthetic vehicles for the coming world leader to ride to destruction.)

- Faith- rather than fact-based. (Truth is truth is truth. Any competitor to it must rely on a kind of faith demonstrably divorced from truth. Over and over again, those who have taken a hard, honest look at the wide range of evidences for the Christian faith have had their minds changed by the facts. Furthermore, as various commentators have noted (popular myth to the contrary), the Christian system of belief has absolutely nothing to fear from honest, hypothesis-based, empirically demonstrated science that recognizes the limitations of its own (and the human) perspective (as opposed to the theoretical or conjectural variety that increasingly tries to pass itself off as scientific.) After all, the Judeo-Christian worldview gave rise to the scientific process and revolution. The expectation of a consistent set of physical laws is a uniquely Judeo-Christian construction — anathema to the god of islam which even its adherents, the koran and hadiths acknowledge to be capricious, unknowable and untrustworthy.

In that context, I find it fascinating that one of the best candidates for such a religion is right under our noses, as John Steele Gordon points out in today’s WSJ (worth reading in full for the facts and supporting arguments I’ve left out for the sake of brevity):

Thus the liberal paradigm divides the American body politic into sheep, wolves, and would-be shepherds. The shepherds must defeat the efforts of the wolves.

This paradigm… had a basis in reality… The liberal revolution [then, was]… one of the greatest—and most peaceful—political triumphs in history…

Now if only someone would tell the shepherds about their own success… [Instead, they see themselves] as being on the outside, speaking truth to power, even when speaking from the Oval Office.

…the liberal paradigm… has largely congealed into a political religionSince liberals care about the sheep, all who disagree with liberalism must not, making them morally inferior if not downright immoral… the so-called wolves are now a majority.

Gordon’s piece could be filed away as just another grenade lobbed over the left-right political fence. If it were only that, I would not have posted it.

Yet he makes the assertion, and begins to build the case that the current worldview known as ‘liberal’ (which has, quite sadly, morphed into a Marxist-leftist one from its reasonable and compassionate FDR, HST, JFK roots) has many of the hallmarks of a comprehensive, widely shared, faith-based system capable of fulfilling end-times prophecy and providing a plausible vehicle for the coming world leader, aka antichrist.

The fact that one of the left’s primary political planks and priorities (urgently setting up a global system to thwart the imagined threat of anthropocentric, catastrophic, man-fixable, global warming) has broad reach and serious money and power behind it makes it very interesting as a candidate for end-times synthetic (anti*-Christian) religion.

(*The word ‘anti’ as used in Biblical constructions such as ‘antichrist’ actually means “pseudo” or “imitation” and not, as many would have it, “opposed-to” — though the former, over time, eventually drives to the latter.

The effect is to draw devotion and attention away from the real thing, gradually and subtly, over years if not generations.

satan, we are told, is wily; a faith system directly in opposition to Christianity from its inception could never get off the ground and turn into a mass movement within a Judeo-Christian society. In other words, the ‘best’ antichrist is one whom many without deep grounding in the real thing can fervently believe to be the real thing.

This helps to explain why those with a leftist world view often seem to draw many of their impulses and goals — e.g., compassion for their fellow humans, desire for peace and justice, etc. — from Christianity and why, further, they might even feel very strongly that they have been inspired by the moral teachings of Jesus.)

Finally, the fact the leftist worldview exhibits a perverse and persistent affinity towards islam (a faith system that would seem to share none of the laudable paleo-liberal priorities such as civil rights, womens’ rights, equality, peace, etc.) makes it even more interesting as a candidate for antichrist vehicle.

The combination of these two factors raises the question of what irrational, behind-the-scenes force or shared animosity would draw together such very strange bedfellows. If anthropocentric, catastrophic global warming is a lie (and it is — a very big one indeed) those that buy into it need to ask themselves: What (who) is truth? (And who is the father of lies?)

And related to that: How would you be able to tell if you were under the influence of a powerful delusion? To what source of truth would you turn?

UPDATE: As if on cue, Senate forges ahead with the lie (saw this after I posted).

  1. On the topic of One World Religion, Climate, One World Government and so forth – if you have not heard of Maurice Strong you really should google him. Fiction could not make up this character. Here are a few links to get you started (and yes, he is of course connected to BO) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104×3522537; http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pol/1433958866.html;

[I've heard of him but, like George Soros, I'm not sure what to DO with him! It makes sense that satan's last big attempt at power would be supported by lots of rich, powerful people, very few of whom realize explicitly what larger script they are dancing and singing to. -ed.]

    • I don’t suppose there is anything we can do with him… But an increased awareness that the days are short and we need to diligently in prayer for the lost souls among us, for the elect to have discernment, etc. is certainly an excellent response to al that we are learning. Every time I stumble on a really large and disturbing detail – I find it bizarre – and yet no longer surprising to find BO connected in some way. What intrigues me about Strong is not his wealth and his power – though that certainly helped him arrive where he is today (although how he went from a run away to an 18 year old connected to Rockefeller with a position at the UN – no education – etc… is an interesting aside) It is his religious interests that I find most interesting… as well as where he has chose to settle. In an earlier blog you mentioned profoundprophecy’s Area 6:2… That is why I thought you might find this individual intriguingly bizarre.

[Yes. Upon further investigation, the New Age connections seem all of a piece with his other beliefs. Innocuous-seeming to most, they are the root of a pagan revival at the highest echelons of world power. -ed.]

These are indeed amazing times we live in. Anyway, here’s an excerpt from his bio found at the Institute for the Study of Globalization and Covert Politics [about 80% of the way down the page; link added -ed.]:

“At the ranch [Strong's Ranch in Colorado] there are representatives of many of the world’s religions, spiritual movements, and New Age sects, including the Catholic and Protestant churches, Buddhist monks, and representatives of different variations on Hinduism. A circular temple has been built on the ranch where the missionaries of different religions can contemplate with each other. If you look at the floor plan you’ll see the building is a complex flower (the representatives sit in circles within this flower) within a Celtic Cross/Hindu Kiakra. The latter two represent a divine sexual union. The building seems to be a Rosy Cross, which can be interpreted as having the same meaning. In that last case, the color of the rose would correspond with the nearby mountain range: Sangre de Cristo, meaning ‘Blood of Christ’, the sacred name the Spanish settlers decided to reserve for it. Nicholas de Vere, former head of the British Dragon Court, wrote: “The Rose represents… the magical menstrual flow of Solomon’s beloved.” George Hunt, who visited the place, asked to a Catholic priest there, father Victor, what the purpose of the temple is: “We contemplate on the sexual union of the church with God… that’s our mission, because we’re fulfilling a role that the pope wants us to fulfill. I don’t know, we’re just contemplating on the sexual union of the church with God.” The San Luis Valley is an amazing place. Twelve different Indian tribes used the Valley as a sacred hunting and vision-quest area. Some of these tribes have legends about the ‘Sipapu’, or ‘place of reemergence’, near the lakes area. They believe that their ancestors were led underground to safety at this location by the ‘Ant People’, just before a cleansing period of the earth started. According to the Navajo tradition, they were warned of the upcoming cataclysms by ’sky katchinas’ (sky spirits). They also claimed that the ’star people’ enter our reality at the sacred Blanca Massif in the Valley. The San Luis Valley happens to be a place with enormous UFO activity (even before the modern UFO era started in June 1947). During peak UFO waves in the late 1960s dozens of cars would literally line the roads watching the amazing aerial displays of unknown lights as they cavorted around in the sky above the Great Sand Dunes/Dry Lakes area.”

Strong is a KEY player in the One World Church movement – in wonder just how key he will become. Anyway – just one more thing to move us to our knees.

[Yikes! I had no idea... What I find most disturbing is not that there are individuals like this, or that they have money and power, but rather how many so-called 'Christian' pastors see nothing dangerous or wrong in participating in, or even endorsing this kind of stuff. -ed.]

  2. Archangel said, “The common thread is the removal of the divine and man acting as God, either through usurpation or straight denial.”

My personal observation is that this definitely fits the bill of faith-based “religion” that is coming to the world, and honestly, I believe it’s already here.

Though, I’m not sure which one I think it might be more. While there are many liberals who flock to Islam, there are also as many flocking to the secular humanism of the new age “religion” in its various forms. The “find the light within yourself”, me-ism culture that has crept steadily within the church–like wolves. Their do what feels good/there is no “morality” unless you decide their is mantra has done much to break centuries of order. And while it has many guises (tolerance, feminism, aliens, paranormal, etc.), it tries to assure everyone that we are one that the only true god is in ourselves and that we are the ones who make the path to God our own way. That we do not need anything more than our own understanding.

I can see the appeal in this to flesh. The focus is on nothing but “ourselves”. We are vain creatures and when we can find something that “validates” (not really) our self-serving ways, it can be appealing and those who would fall for it would believe they have not sinned because they are living for their god–themselves.

The only reason I have not fully considered Islam as the coming “one world religion” is that they are fundamental and have their beliefs that would make even their believers do things that are not appealing to the flesh. Suicide bombers, while accepted in Islam, are not the norm in western culture because we are too concerned with self. Keeping women silent and covered head to toe in burkas would not appeal to over half the western world as they are women. And the stickler…they do believe in a god. While Mohammed based his religion on various pantheistic and monotheistic religions–he did create a worship system that most people in the world would find difficult to embrace or to adhere to.

New Age espouses love and peace while creating chaos and turmoil for anyone not in the “system”. New Age is all for saving the seals and killing our children. New Age is equality for all, so long as you do not believe in any other God but yourself and a few select fellow men (women) who are more “enlightened’ than you. Sectors of New Age say it’s okay to be yourself and do what feels good, no matter what anyone else says. It is all about self and as long as you are fulfilled you won’t care what your fellow man is doing–so long as they believe in self like you do.

I could go on, but you’ve definitely given me some food for thought. I’m still not certain I lean that way, thinking that most of the world is too self-serving to become Islam…but if it is the Great Deception, then it could happen.

I pray that God grant His discernment to His people so they can lead others to Christ before it’s too late.

  3. Very interesting possibility; makes one wonder who the false prophet will be.

  4. Have you all noticed the change in un-saved family and friends to compromise with liberalism? People that a few years ago seemed to have values are now willing to bend to the Left, i.e. homosexuality, drugs, etc. The delusion is well under way.

[Boiling frog doesn't notice when the temperature comes up slowly. -ed.]

  5. Ditto to Archangel.

The father of lies seeks to enslave us. He offers false promises and power to those who will work for him here on earth. The false freedom of liberalism is his ideology. Abortion is the bloody foundation. Liberals gravitate toward radical Islam, I think, because they are ultimately cowards. Everything is OK with them because they haven’t the spine or belief system to stand against anything.

I think they have finally been sent their ’savior.’ IMHO if this country ever gets taken over by radical Islam, they would have no problem leaving BO in power…
    See video:

Check out the sign at 8:30. It says ‘The judgment to lead.’ Reverse those words and you get ‘Lead to judgment.’ Who better than the son of a goat herder to do so.
    Just pondering…

  6. One cannot tell he is under a delusion if he has smooth sailing upon the seas with the charts he has been provided. Only when the results of sailing by false charts prove disastrous can one begin to realize he has been sold lies.

There are no questions before their time.

  7. Art, what you are arriving at is a more universal view of what has been occurring all around us and I am glad that you found that OpEd. Your last sentence begging the question is the ultimate key to understanding, at least IMO, the whole. There IS a common thread and it is anti JudeoChristian. But, more importantly, it is anti-God; even with Islam in the mix. In each case, the “God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob” Who was revealed to the world in the Incarnation of His Son Jesus Christ is either DENIED or REPLACED. Even the false prophet Mohammed’s extreme followers admit he is HUMAN. It is only the Christian who claims that their Prophet, Jesus, is divine. Yet the extreme Muslim will literally KILL for his human “prophet” while we suffer for our divine High priest.

The common thread is the removal of the divine and man acting as God, either through usurpation or straight denial. It gets no more basic than that. It is the stain of Original Sin and the common thread is the source of that sin. The bedfellows are not that strange since they all deny FREEWILL… the conerstone of our humanity and the ultimate gift the Father gave us upon our creation. What you relate are siomply the choices before us… LIFE or DEATH. That is their function.
