Lots of time to read today, hooked to the CPM — a real blessing. Would have driven me utterly mad just a few years ago. Reading Spurgeon’s ‘…Soul Winner’ (99 cents on the Kindle) — great stuff. I highlighted the following, noting, “this is absolutely magnificent”. Emphasis mine:
“Delivered from the fear which makes salvation of self a more immediate object than salvation than salvation from self; and inspired by holy gratitude to his Redeemer, the regenerated man becomes capable of virtue, and is filled with an enthusiasm for God’s glory. While trembling under a sense of insecurity, a man gives his chief thought to his own interests, but planted firmly on the Rock of ages, he has time and heart to utter the new song which the Lord has put into his mouth, and then is his moral salvation complete, for self is no longer the lord of his being.”
Greetings brothers and sisters! Thanks for sharing that gem. I love reading Spurgeon’s writings. Makes these Bible versus ring so true!
He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 10:39
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor 4:6
To Him be the glory! He has shined in our hearts!

Amen.
As His people gather this Lord’s day, may it please the high King of heaven to grant grace that we might worship and praise His great and Holy Name. Jesus.

Wow Art
That just summed up what I’ve been mulling over lately with looking at humanism and how pervasive and sneaky it is. That hit me.
