Limping Between Two Different Opinions

Democrats hurriedly rewrote their convention platform Wednesday to add a mention of God and declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel… Three times Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the convention chairman, called for a voice vote on the changes and each time the yes and no votes seemed to balance each other out.

I know that political parties are not churches, however I couldn’t help noting similarities between last night’s events and two passages of scripture which everyone ought to have memorized, both sadly emblematic of our culture in general and not just this party or president.

I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. (Revelation 3:15-17)

1st Kings 18:21 And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If YHWH is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.

One ray of hope comes in Matthew 26:34

“Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

(Peter was profoundly grieved/convicted at his sin, and repented in deepest humility. There is still time for any to do the same and be reconciled to God through Christ Jesus.)

  1. Great article. I am praying in agreement with John the revelator; come quickly KING YAHSHUA! For the government shall be upon HIS shoulders. Looking forward to that day! amen!

  2. It is noteworthy that the amendment required a two-thirds vote to pass. The nays sounded like a majority, although they may have just shouted louder. However, there was no way that two-thirds voted in favor. The booing and heckling were so defiant, they were not just spitting in the eye of a majority of Americans, but also reminiscent of stories in the Old Testament, prophets of Baal, for example, come to mind.

In East Texas, we have a saying about someone who is notably blasphemous, “I sure wouldn’t want to stand next to him in a thunderstorm.” Sounds fitting in this situation, too.

  3. There was another parallel between the two conventions that I haven’t seen anyone comment about yet. Both parties rearranged and/or changed their ‘schedules’ pretty significantly because of ‘threatening weather.’ I don’t recall any prior conventions having to reschedule on account of ‘weather’, let alone both conventions? It would be interesting to look at the record books and see if it set a historical precedent.

It reminded me of the adage: man makes his plans but God makes the weather!!! What an encouraging reminder of Who is really in control and Who is truly worthy of our trust and ‘vote’.

[ART: Good observation, Andrea. I hadn't noticed that. Indeed, virtually everyone has experienced a weather extreme at some time, be it a tornado, a hurricane, a flood or drought, a blizzard or just a severe thunderstorm. And everyone knows, whether they admit it or not, that man and his schemes are puny by comparison. (The crux of the book of Job revolves around this, in fact.) It's one of the most basic reasons why global warming or 'climate change' had to be turned into a man-caused, man-fixable faith system if the world were ever to compete with the Most High Creator YHWH for peoples' worship. In a sense, it is the last domino to fall.]

  4. “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

I saw this the other day. Thank you for pointing that out! I think we can discern the times we live in!

    Blessings!

  5. Glad you brought this up Art. Thanks again.
The “Strike three you’re out” came to my mind too and Drudge Report really emphasized that today on his posting. Also, the split pretty much down the middle for the “nays” and “yeas”- the renting of a curtain showing what had been hidden, now exposed. I see it as a truth being stated. Isn’t the truth more that of the god of this world is their god and there’s only a remnant of the faithful – and this isn’t just the dem.s, it’s the Nation as a whole.
To me it seems that God is showing us what’s “really” important to us, not just what we think or hope is. These conventions have shown each a house divided, in both parties. Makes for a prime target from the outside foe.
Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
2 Thes 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

  6. Thanks for your encouragement. I know that I am not the only that has been knocked off his “high horse.” I am counting on this truth. Because it is time for us as “living stones” to fix ourselves together, with Christ as our cornerstone. We cannot be divided in our affections, and we cannot be divided as a body. We need to use our gifts to edify and encourage one another. And we need to use them to “expose works of darkness” while manifesting the light of truth in our own lives. Ultimately, we must be the contrast. One of the greatest deceptions that Satan has ever implemented in our world is for Christians to believe that they can be citizens of both kingdoms. We have forgotten that “friendship with the world means enmity with God.” (James 4:4) It is time for us to “come out of Babylon, lest we partake in her sins.” (Rev 18:4) For they have surely reached as high as heaven. Keep following him Jeff. Praying for you brother.

  7. That is where you end up trying to balance between the two, you are neither. There is nothing more refreshing than a glass of cold water or as satisfying as cup of hot coffee but never in reverse.
And AWPOLINSKI888, you were not the only one knocked off your horse, (and I mean that as encouragement).
I am limping (for real), but not because of a divided heart.

You cannot be citizens of both kingdoms, pure and simple.

  8. Art, I have been an avid reader of your blog for some time now and I felt the Lord wanting me to send you a message of encouragement. Your faithfulness to declare the truths God has revealed to you through the Spirit of prophesy (which we know is simply the testimony of Jesus according to Rev 19:10) is to be praised. As a former atheist and persecutor of the church, many of the things the Lord has shown me since the day in October of 2008 that I was “knocked off of my horse” he has confirmed through things you have also written about. Your boldness and humility is evident and I am grateful to the Lord for the gifts that he has given to you.

I am a member at a large non denominatonal church in Dallas Tx. For the most part their theology is solid but lately I have felt a pull away from them. They preach a pre trib rapture, they do not put much of an emphasis on Israel or the Jewish people; they do not truly believe in the gifts; and for the most part, they are unaware of the hour in which we live. I have felt the Lord wanting me to stay there to be a voice crying in the wilderness. I am a people pleaser so sometimes Id rather bask in the revelations than sound the trumpet and risk being rejected.

Last night I shared some of the revelations with my community group regarding the season that we are living in, the possible identity of the antichrist, and some other related topics that are not popular to discuss in the church. It was actually received well. (I was surprised as I was prepared to be opposed) The reason I am writing this is because when it was my turn to share, the Lord prompted me to speak and reminded me of your blog and the declarations you have made about these often unpopular truths.

The gift of prophesy is meant to be desired, and is as you know, meant to be used to edify the body. I wanted you to know that I am consistently edified by your blog and pray that God would continue to speak to you. May he nourish you with his Word during the drought of 2012!

[ART: Praise God for these ripple effects! It is VERY encouraging to hear of folks coming to faith and walking boldly in it in this late hour, especially from a former stance of rebellion. Our God can do ANYTHING.]

  9. If I didn’t have the Father and Jesus to turn to in these times I don’t
know how I would manage to stay calm and unafraid. Every day the
news is worse than the day before and the “Time of Trouble” is staring
us in the face, although most cannot or do not want to see it coming.

“The Lord is my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,
therefor will I not be afraid”. (Psalm 46)

Oh, turn to Him and He will uphold you and comfort you in these days
    of turmoil and trouble!

    [ART: Amen!!]

  10. That was a truly telling moment, and the camera stayed on a couple holding a sign reading “Arab American Democrat”. There is one TRUE God, and He is a jealous God. Tonight is the night. Thanks for your thoughts. This nation needs to choose whom it will serve, man or God.

[ART: Keep in mind that there are real Christians who are Arabs, Americans and/or who vote for Democrat party candidates. (My Christian Syrian/Arab barber is just one example, though I have not idea how he votes.) What counts is whether we put the Christian ('Christ follower') FIRST, far above ANY self-identifications or affiliations, and that includes even mundane roles and labels like 'husband', 'father', 'son', 'parent', 'Red Sox fan', 'coach', 'writer', 'runner', 'gardener', or 'consultant'. (That's a portion of my list. Yours may vary.)]
